2025 Municipal Election
Election day is Monday, October 20, 2025.

Information for Voters
To vote in the 2025 municipal election in Castor, you must be:- At least 18 years of age;
- A Canadian citizen; and,
- A resident of the Town of Castor on the day that you vote.

Information for Candidates
Being a member of Council is a challenging and rewarding experience. This is your opportunity to have your voice heard and represent the best interests of the residents of the Town of Castor. If elected as a member of Council, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of your municipality.

Nominations
The Nomination period runs from January 1, 2025 through to September 22, 2025, with the deadline to submit papers being 12:00 p.m. noon on September 22, 2025. Please note that the Town office is closed on January 1, 2025. Candidates can begin filing their nomination papers on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Time Commitment
As a member of Council you will face demands of your time. In addition to regular meetings you will be expected to attend special meetings, sit on committees and attend various public meetings and functions. To get an idea of how much time is involved consider speaking to a current Councillor.

Term of Office
Town Councillors serve a four year term. This term begins at the first meeting of Council after the election and continues until the first meeting of Council after the next election, unless their offices are vacated sooner.

Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) and the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) are hosting numerous one-hour sessions from April to September for people interested in running for council. Multi-Use Facility Refurbishment Project
Project Overview
Through Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan) (through the Canada Coal Transition Initiative (CCTI) and Canada Coal Transition Initiative – Infrastructure Fund (CCTI-IF)), the Town of Castor is receiving $891,000 to reconstruct and convert our Town campgrounds into multi-functional venues through the necessary infrastructure to support economic diversification and foster continual growth in the community and surrounding area.
Project Timeline
- Design: March 2024 to September 2024
- Construction: Work started August 2024 with completion Spring 2025
- Marketing: Spring and Summer 2025

- Fifty (50) amp power at each site
- Water and sewer service at each site
- Gravel sites
- Ability to accommodate longer travel trailers
