The Town of Castor's Cemetery has its first columbarium. Harry Stienwand, a former citizen of Castor and owner of KMI Columbarium based out of Kimberley, BC installed the columbarium in August 2008. This columbarium is triangular in shape, with polished light mahogany structural granite base, top and pillars, highlighted by all individual black doors. It provides 72 standard niches (each providing adequate space for two urns) as well as 18 feature niches on the corner of the triangle allowing space for larger urns and memorabilia. All niches have aluminum interior and patented security system.
The cremation garden also includes an ossuary to further expand the options for families that choose cremation. The ossuary provides a more modern option by simulating scattering or co-mingling of cremated remains rather than using an unpopular traditional scattering garden.
